First Review: Ullr Custom Skis

Matt Neuman of Ullr Custom Skis was kind enough to send us a pair of his personal resort demo skis to review. While custom skis are nothing new, Matt has taken his experience in making nearly 60 pairs of skis with Michael Lish of 333skis and launched his own company to give skiers affordable, customized skis starting around $400 usd.  Custom skis for $400?  That got our attention.  Would they be junk?  Would they be awesome?...Would they be just "OK"?  Matt sent us a pair with "about 40-50 days on them".  Normally, that would not be a huge deal, but since Ullr uses a cabinet-grade birch plywood core (horizontal laminate - yes..."plywood"), we just had to see if such a core could hold its camber, response and torsional integrity after a pretty good season of hard skiing.  Read the review and see the pictures to see what we thought.  Bottom line: Affordable, fun customized skis are a reality....and that's good for skiers everywhere.
