Bill Wanrooy (author of "Dream Season: Worldwide Guide to Heli & Cat Skiing/Boarding") and Brian VanDenBrand have started their own ski company in Michigan called Epic Planks (the second! - SCC skis by the Thompson brothers is the other Michigan startup this year). The skis have been developed during reviews of different heli and cat skiing opportunities, and they have released a photo of the skis in the wild. The powder ski is called the "Crop Duster" and measures in at 150-122-140 @185cm with poplar wood core, pTex sidewalls and 20mm rocker front and rear for $599 retail.  A park&pipe ski is also in the works.  Look for them in 2010-2011.  The website is still under construction..but check it out on a regular basis for updates.  You can also follow EpicPlanks at Facebook.  We hope to get on a pair as soon as they are available for testing!
