Kevan Beane, another hard-core American skier transplanted to France by the alure of a French woman and the French Alps, has released a line of his pure white-ash core, handmade skis to the public under the name of Rip'nWud Skis. Having come from a background of freeride and big-mountain derby competition as well as time with Salomon Skis developing their freeride product efforts, Kevan has been designing and producing custom-built skis for various recreational and competition clients for several years and now has several "stock" models available in various handsome topsheet veneers for the public.
Several models are available in "Pro Series - Addiction Edition" construction having significantly stronger flex and torsional strength patterns intended for competition or serious athletic skiers. Beautifully finished, hand-made in very small batches with very nice quality, proprietary core-tuning lamination techniques and excellent workmanship. Custom constructions are still the staple of Kevan Beane's Rip'nWud ski company, and he will work with customers to deliver the exact ski behavior they seek. We skied the Freeride Carve (FRC) 177cm and Freeride Carve "Pro Series" in 188cm. See our reviews at the Rip'nWud review forum.
