" This company continues craft and the great tradition of the famous producers of the sci Valchiavenna. A Chiavenna was the first ski factory in Italy (Ski Persenico) where they were then sfornate those Machinery race "that contributed begun the mythical" Avalanche blue. At Blossom, with its technical, it continues to live and to realize on the ground experience in those years. The Blossom does not have a high production of parts, but it is precisely for this reason that the few thousand pairs become much more the result of a meticulous research work for both materials and the high technical nature of the product. Highly regarded by other ski designers in the World. Reportedly superb race skis and excellent carvers. They make many models of ski for several brands including Hart, Core, Nava, Duel, Ferrari, Vist, (maybe Core) and others. Rumored to make some "race room" skis for large name ski brands for major WorldCup and Olypmpic events. Rumored to have inherited the old Persenico/Spalding/Prime facility. Ferrari-branded models seen at the shop reportedly sell for €2,000+ (from the Valchiavenna region in Italy...built in Lombardy, the town name is Chiavenna, [ the shop is on the road just south of Chiavenna - technically before you either continue on toward St. Moritz, or hang a left to go toward Madesimo. ] - thanks pgetchell!)

Reportedly reborn from the "RDP" factory which burned in 2000, Blossom was formed by the two friends Luciano Panatta (Technical) and Franco Moro (business).

Bluehouse Ski Company has emerged with the purpose of delivering the ultimate in ski technology to those who demand superior performance from their boards. Produced with sustainably grown materials, BH's revolutionary Stabilite™ technology makes our skis stiff for stability at screaming speeds, fat for floating deeps and stomping landings, and light for trekking to the top of an epic line. Bluehouse is more than a ski company. Whether you park, scream, or tour, Bluehouse is your ally in helping you manage a stellar ride and a distinct identity on and off the mountain. Utah skiers Adam Hepworth and Jared Richards form Bluehouse Ski Co., LLC to produce two lines of skis for winter 2007-2008. Made from exceptional materials and with master craftsmanship, Bluehouse products are quickly becoming cachet among serious skiers. Bluehouse Ski Co. is well on its way to becoming a well respected industry participant along side other Utah companies like Black Diamond and Backcountry.com.

From a post at TGR:
"We started out small and were going the garage production route but when we finally decided to get our skis to the masses we figured we didn't have the equipment to really insure the quality control that we and our future customers expected from our skis. We didn't have heated presses, CNC machines, etc. So we called up an old ski contact and arranged to use their equipment to produce our skis to our specifications. So we pressed some samples this past season and made sure they were to the standards we required. Our partnership with a major ski manufacturer has enabled us to produce top quality products that can be backed up by our warranty. They are designed in the Utah, pressed overseas then sent back to us to be finished in Utah. We have a Bluehouse employee at the factory overseeing production. Eventually we would like to move production to Salt Lake but we are at least a few years away from that."

Boardski
Great Britain

Manufacturer
Comments:
"Britain helped invent modern sking a century ago, but since then there have been a few trails blazed from these isles. This season, however, two plucky brit inventors, Gary Haggar and Anthony Shapiro, are introducing a peice of equipment with which you can both ski and snowboard. Boardski is fun to use in both modes, and the conversion takes less than an minute, as I saw when I tested it at Milton Keynes Xscape (pictured). The skis are like ski-boards (being 100cm long with non-safety-release-bindings) and carve well. In snowboard mode, you get a short, fun board which turns easily. But the foot angles are not alterable - you choose your desired set-up when you buy it. Finding suitable boots is another issue. You need something stiff enough for edge control in ski mode but supple enough for snowboard mode. Soft Alpine ski boots, or hard snowboard boots are probably best. FT salutes Gary and Anthony's inventiveness, and Boardski could add to fun on the slopes, particularly in the park or for those who just can't make up their mind. It's not ideal off-piste in either mode though, as it's so short. Price wasn't finalised when we went to press, but will be about £250. The company hopes it'll be available for hire too. Longer lengths and kid's sizes are also in development. To find out more call 01245 451 700 or visit www.boardski.biz"

British design consisting of two fat miniski "skiboards" you can couple together to form a twin-deck snowboard (sort of), or ski separately on two feet. You have to see them to understand. Video footage and pictures available on the site. Very odd.

Based in Northern California, Boone skis is a freeride ski company - owned by riders and dedicated to manufacturing skis for other riders. We are committed to avoid watering down our product by mass manufacturing our skis like the major industry players.

When riding on Boone skis, we guarantee you will be riding on a numbered, small-batch ski. In addition, you can be 98% sure that the guy next to you – whether you are in the lift line, a snow cat, or the heli pad – will not have the same pair of skis on as you. We are committed to selling only limited production skis – thus making them designer by fashion industry standards.

We also feel that our skis are not only a sweet pair of boards to charge your favorite shoot, grease the kink rail, or throw D-spins with in the park, but they are also art. The idea that skiing is both sport and art – and that skis can be the same may be unconventional - but Boone skis is committed to keeping our customers guessing what we are going to do next. We are less interested in selling 10’s of thousands of skis. What we are interested in:

· Designing and manufacturing the sickest skis in the industry that are a statement of individual expression by our customers.

· Staying true to our mission of producing great skis – and remaining an independent, boutique firm, with only limited production skis (ie: no more than 250 pairs sold worldwide per model, per year.) available to consumers.

· Remaining a company that believes that despite the monopoly that greedy behemoth companies have over the sport of skiing, that the true local riders (our valued customers) believe in our mission to the sport – above and beyond profit driven performance.

· Promoting wise use without abuse of our earth’s natural resources.

"This year (2008-2009), we are not creating more than 250 pairs of any ski offering. Every year we will have different amounts created and each will be uniquely serial numbered. Boone Ski Aficionado's may request (email us or ask via telephone) to know the total amount produced of any ski. This year I there are actually 250 Magic Sticks, 125 SuperFreak's and 125 Twins. We also commit to never, ever, produce more than 500 pairs of any given ski. I hope that clarifies our stance against brand dilution and assuring all of our customers receive a small-batch numbered designer product!" We build sexy, high performance skis that our customers love to ride. Remaining a family business that is focused on our core values of service, quality, and creativity in our approach to ski design.

Most of all, we enjoy doing what we love – skiing and making great skis to share with all of our friends who ride them."
