Concept launched in 2003 by David Jäger with custom slalom skateboards, diversified into skis in 2006. He has been experimenting with rockered designs since 2007. Full set of rockered, tapered, early-rise, cambered, flat, splittail and other geometries. Skis for backcountry, jibbing, all-mountain, powder and other conditions. Initial pilot production of 20 pairs for 2009-2010.  Sandwich construction with bamboo cores and topsheets, fiberglass and carbon layers.  Powder skis are rockered tip and tail, flat underfoot.

Big mountain freeride skis in a variety of flexes, made in Nevada, USA with some models made in Switzerland by the famous AK-ski. Aspen cores, Ptex-4001 bases, full wrap Rockwell 48 edges. New factory facility in Nov. 2006. Nice pictures of the new production shop and the original garage (yes, garage) they started in. Very small production volume. Nice photo gallery. Handmade freeride and big mountain skis from Germany. Two model lines: Lightweight and Big Mountain.  They also make a very interesting B t3 Tour "snowboard" that can be split into three pieces: two skis or a ski and a snowboard for maximum configurability.

The lightweight line boasts extremely low weight, long noses with tight turn radii for long hikes and extreme tours. 125/84/110 @ 15m radius (170cm) 1.3kg, 127/84/112 @ 16m radius (180cm) 1.4kg, 130/84/115 @ 17m radius (190 cm)1.5kg. 950 EUR per pair.

The "B" type for deep powder and high-speed big mountain riding is available in 145/101/127 @ 17m radius (1.7kg) and 145/100/127 @ 18m radius (1.8kg) for 970 EUR per pair.

This is my first season selling skis after a few years of testing. I have been producing a Powder ski. Based on the design contributions of the spatula. The ski is 185cm 131,136,124 reverse sidecut and camber. Wood core (poplar and ash) sidewall construction (UHMW). Pretty burly boards. Made in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Seem to be well excepted and reviewed. I have sold almost 100 pair and will probably make about another 100 pair this season. Next year I should have a full line of skis and a little higher production. Still small hardly a company, but with any luck I should bring some pretty cool new ideas to the industry. - Keith O'Meara"

Continuous Curves Rocker: The rocker has no flat spots. Instead it flows from a greater curve in the tip to a lesser curve in the mid and tail sections of the ski. This adds to the skis variable turn radius and allows the ski to dive out of a turn with a variety of projection.
Reverse side cut: Consistent reverse side cut for a smooth variable turn radius. Minimal taper in the tip keeps the tips on the surface and allows for easier traversing.
Bullet proof 9mm UHMW sidewall construction with a poplar and ash wood core
360 degree 2.2 mm edge. Thick and durable sintered bases.
The flex pattern has a solid oversized underfoot platform with short plush section in the tail and a softer tip. The tail makes the ski more forgiving and the softer tip makes the ski want to surface in powder when pressured.
Choice from 5 different graphics will be available on 07/08 models.

Prior built the first prototypes in 2002 and continued to put them through testing here in Whistler and on the demo tour of the northwest throughout the 0304 season before the Prior 'Original' went on the market in the fall of 2004.
Can you tell me more about your factory in Whistler?
The Prior factory is specifically designed to handle small runs of high quality snowboards and skis. Our equipment is some of the most modern available. We produce a limited number of snowboards and skis to ensure that the integrity of our product is maintained.

Are all your boards made at your factory in Whistler, Canada?
Yes - Prior is the only ski and snowboard factory in Whistler.
Where do you ship skis to?
Just about anywhere. We have more than 10 years experience shipping to Prior customers from all over the world.
What is your warranty policy?
New Prior snowboards and skis come with a one-year warranty against defects in quality and workmanship. For more information please go to warranty .
Does Prior make any skis for kids?
Not at the present time, but it is something we are considering for the future.
Do you rent skis?
Yes. We have a full set of demo skis at the Prior factory/store in Whistler.
Prior also does demo tours around Western Canada and the NW States. Check out our demo schedule online to see when we'll be at a resort in your area.
Where should I position the bindings on the ski when having them mounted?
The centre of the mounting position is marked on the left sidewall of each ski to help guide you See the 'specs' section for each ski model on the website.
If you wish to adjust the position of the binding slightly forward or back depending on your skiing style, you should discuss this with the ski technician who is mounting your bindings.
Are graphite bases faster?
Industry information says yes. Graphite reduces friction at moderate temperatures, thus increasing speed. In cold conditions and warm conditions this effect is negated.
To ensure speed it is likely more important keep your base in good condition and wax regularly.
What kinds of custom options are available?
All customers can choose between various topsheet and base graphics as seen on webpage for each model.
