This company was the OEM for all Burton Snowboards manufactured in Austria (usually top of the line), they exclusively produced for Burton for about 20 years (50,000 boards per year - making it one of the bigger producers in Austria). After Burton stopped the production they couldn't get other contracts quickly enough and went finally bankrupt in March/April 2007. Oldenburg afterwards produced skis for high-end companies like Edelwiser. They started marketing their own Oldenbürg brand which was unsuccesfull. Even in the direct surroundings of the factory Oldenbürg snowboards were rarely seen. (Thanks to extremecarver for this info!) Some links and info old info... Picture...

(pronounced "OH - EHN - THREE - PEE") Born in 2008, an aspiring new batch of handcrafted freeride and big mountain/powder designs by Scott Andrus out of Portland, Oregon USA. Previously riding skis such as the famous Igneous or Capital Custom boards, Scott wanted to build his own to get just the right design he craved that was missing in other brands.

As of October 2008, Scott had created a reported 50 pairs of skis in a little over six weeks (with 4 weeks of material prep...so about 10 weeks) ! Graphics by Matty Jeronimo. Great details, specs and photos posted by Sean Kaldhusdal on the Shredictionary blog. Good thread about ON3P at TGR showing pics of building the first press and the raw materials going into custom skis, along with detailed specs and weights on some designs. More details and pics can be found at SkiBuilders.com website journal. The ON3P Website may or may not be up when you check...keep trying.

There is a quick review of the Wrenegades over at NewSchoolers.

Inspiring, bold move for one guy and his buddies.

Comments:
"'Pamporovo-Ski' emerged in the world market in 1975, having more than 30 years of genuine ski manufacturing experience in the ski production industry. At first the ski trade mark was called 'Pamporovo', named after one of the famous ski resorts, situated nearby. For a period of 10 years since 1980 the company works in partnership with the Austrian leading manufacturer "Atomic", having bought its "know how" for the newly developed brand "Mladost". A whole generation associates the only Bulgarian ski manufacturer with this name. In the early 90's the company cannot rely on the declining Eastern European ski market. Constantly developing its production technology it produces small quantities for many different clients - from small Northern and Eastern European retailers to one of the biggest and famous companies in Japan and North America. At that time it develops its newest brand ORION, which becomes the symbol of the Bulgarian ski and snowboard production today. "

Ski Types:   All Mountain, Carving, Extreme Carving, Freeride, Freestyle, Hybrid-Other, Intermediate, Novice, Race Carve, Ski Cross
Past partnership with Atomic and custom producer of skis for small European retailers and "famous companies" in North America and Japan. Now makes its own brand "Orion". Wood core carbon fiber hypercarving skis with graphite bases, all-mountain skis, twintips, lightweight foam core skis for new carvers...lots of skis. Skiboards too...

Large, OEM producer in Austria. Rumored to have made some skis for Lacroix skis of France (not Lacroix/Lagriffe skis). Skis and snowboards, including special makeup jobs for bulk markets. Great kid's lineup of various types of skis. Some with integrated lifters! Main focus on foam core cap ski construction for very easy all-around skis. Twintip available with wood core. Some recognized names in their catalog are "Pale", Nishizawa (few models), Surface "Watch Life".

They have catalogs of their stock ski designs:

- 2009 Ski Model Catalog (PDF)
- 2009 Twintip Ski Catalog (PDF)

They have a list of their skis by mold (geometry, length...etc.)

- 2009 Ski Mold List(PDF)
- 2009 Twintip Ski Mold List (PDF)

They also sell ski materials and various machinery. Interesting company.

 [visitor comment]
"One of the cheaper OEM Manufacturers for small series. Quality is as good as you pay (well they don't build very high quality) so a lot produced by Pale may be very "cheap"."

[visitor comment]

"spent 200 hours on their top model snowboard the voltage 156 (now 4 years old) 280 euro's i believe at that the time it was a very strong board and the base held until up to 150 hours. Very satisfied with the board and would reccoment it to everyone but now i am ready to spend some serious money on a board."

..."'DPD' or Dynamic Power Distribution.... Essentially, DPD utilizes a lower profile shovel and tail and Palmer's patented Klothoid shape to transfer power directly toward the center of the ski as the tip and tail actually "float" out of the way as resistance is being built through the turn. Once the ski is engaged, the contact point is pushed further down the shovel, allowing the skier to maximize his edge control." - Palmer website

[ExoticSkis test reviews...]

Maker of freeride and freestyle snowboards introduces several skis for late 2006-2007 season. Vertically laminated cores in snowboards...maybe in the skis too? P02 carving ski was spotted at Killington, VT April 2007, appeared very nice. Very flat tip profile, very interesting "Klothold" geometry ("Klothoid" Radii sidecut = Multi radius tip shape with 7 radii overlapping with the tightest radius at the initial contact point getting gradually longer toward mid body.) "White" twintip all-mountain and "Black" carving ski. Snowboards rumored to have some design elements by Hans Jürg Kessler (multi-time worldcup snowboard racing board designer).

Dealers are somewhat difficult to find, but Palmer sent us a list of their ski dealers for 2008-2009 HERE (28k PDF).

Peak Performance Skis
USA

Comments:
Peak Performance has together with Scott designed a blue and black product series, available in stores from late October. The exclusive skis are made for experienced off-piste skiers. They feature a wide, strong wooden core, graphite coating and an optimal sidecut (132/92/118) that gives a turn radius of 67 feet ( 20,5 m). The classic wood sandwich construction makes the skis durable, elastic and absorbs vibrations and chocks, which ensures a stable speed. The progressive design of the ski tip with a long point gives better snow control. On delivery, the skis are race prepared."

Phantom Skis

Comments:
" Phantom Skis were constructed using a snowboard mold, and as such have a cross section similar to that of a snowboard. Phantom Skis have a wood core with a carbon reinforced alloy mid-section top plate and sintered base and cap side walls. Phantom Skis were designed to allow any individual to extend their limits and to ski terrain that they once felt was beyond their natural ability by ensuring more stability and a higher level of control on any terrain."

Ski Types:   Backcountry, Park-Pipe, Powder
"The S.U.V. for backcountry and powder skiing". Two models, the original "Phantom" and "Crystal Ship". $625 usd. The Phantom looks like a mono-board cross-bred with a snowboard, but with ski width. Probably a collector's item. Reverse phone lookup indicates their company phone is a cellular phone in Albany, NY USA.

[Google Translation]

- Phoenix is the result of a long journey through the world of Snowboarding --

I had the opportunity to be present in the team "Freesurf" in 1990, and then we were only 6 employees, including daddy!  Besides my background in this business has allowed me to work on all items related to the manufacture of a snowboard and see a small scale structure to become a World Industry. It was a big challenge for the time, but it was mostly a great adventure.

Making a snowboard focused on the spring, summer and fall. Winters were spent rider ..... the good old days!  It was the "off track" with "snowboards". The words "Freeride" and "Snowboarding" were not the jargon.  And to fill the table, very few people were out of the tracks.

All this has allowed me, after 5 seasons with Freesurf, being interested in designing a snowboard.  I spent several years working on prototypes ...........
My research is focused on a flex-type "Double Flex", and he was mature in 1999. At the same time that the mark Freesurf disappeared.

Vincent Beulnè had mounted "Boheme" a year earlier, at the request of Fire Patrick Gayardon.  He was quickly joined by Olivier Piantoni (one of the bumps in Freesurf) and myself.

Vincent, in addition to being the creator of the brand and logo Bohemia, was the shapers of sky-surfing and telemark skis.

Olivier was the one who was developing the manufacturing processes which produced the boards, which he still does today also within the same brand.

And who cared for wam shapes (snowboarding and freeride skiing), as well as communication, not to mention rider course, the same basic design.

So this is how redemption following a "Gangster" Bohemian "I decided to set up my own label and called Phoenix.

Seriously interesting skis and snowboards of French Walnut by Séb Perret (previously of Bohême Skis) built in collaboration with Bruno Florit of La Grave, France. The idea was to make a ski usable from a glacier conditions at the top, chutes and traverses usually seen in extreme mountains. Generally designed to have a flexible forebody, flexible tail with a firm waist underfoot. The "SX" is available as a wooden topsheet in 186 and 190cm lengths with dimensions of 125-93-115 r=20m. €850 price.  The "All Black" is pure black for €1000, and is double-sandwich carbon and kevlar construction with 64/20 and 56/20 coated fiberglass between them.  Isosport 7512 bases (could be a typo..ISOSPORT makes a 7215 base).  You can also order customized versions, priced individually.  You can get  snowboards, splitboards and kiteboards too.
